We embrace new ideas, challenge what's possible and empower our teams to make a lasting impact. If you're ready to help shape the future of fintech, unlock your next chapter with FIS.
About the role
We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer with strong AWS, automation and production engineering experience to help design, build and operate secure, resilient and scalable cloud platforms.
You will work closely with software engineering, architecture, security and operations teams to improve service reliability, automate infrastructure and operational processes, strengthen observability and resilience, and support enterprise applications across development, test and production environments.
Your key responsibilities
- Design, provision and maintain secure and scalable AWS infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code best practices.
- Build and operate AWS environments using services such as Amazon EC2, EKS, S3, RDS, ALB/NLB, IAM, KMS, CloudWatch, SNS/SQS, AWS Backup and Secrets Manager.
- Deploy and operate containerised workloads on Amazon EKS using Kubernetes and Helm.
- Build, maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployments.
- Automate infrastructure, operating-system configuration and repetitive operational tasks using Terraform, Ansible, Bash and other scripting or programming languages.
- Establish and continuously improve observability across infrastructure and applications, including metrics, logs, dashboards, tracing and alerting.
- Define and improve SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, operational runbooks and incident-response procedures for critical services.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues across AWS, Kubernetes, networking, operating systems, CI/CD and application infrastructure.
- Participate in production incident management, perform root-cause analysis and lead post-incident reviews to identify and track permanent corrective actions.
- Analyse operational data, recurring incidents and service requests to identify reliability improvements, eliminate toil and automate manual processes.
- Conduct capacity and performance reviews, identify constraints and implement improvements to availability, scalability and performance.
- Design, implement and validate high availability, backup, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions for AWS workloads.
- Implement secure identity and access controls using AWS IAM roles and policies, following least-privilege principles.
- Build and upgrade cloud environments for new clients, including application integration and migration-related infrastructure.
- Work with development and platform teams to improve deployment reliability, resilience, performance and operational readiness.
- Contribute to technical documentation, operational runbooks, architecture standards and implementation guidelines.
- Participate in technical design reviews and evaluate solutions for security, scalability, availability, maintainability and operational supportability.
