Updated Role Overview
We are looking for a Lead Engineer – Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement & Advanced + Data cloud to design, develop, and support scalable customer engagement solutions across the Salesforce ecosystem. This role requires deep expertise in Marketing Cloud Engagement, strong Data Cloud fundamentals, data architecture, integrations, and marketing automation.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned SFMC professional capable of owning end-to-end marketing technology pipelines, providing subject matter expertise across Marketing Cloud and Data Cloud, driving solution design, and working closely with business, operations, and technology teams to deliver customer-centric engagement programs at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Cloud Engagement Development
- Design, develop, and maintain solutions across Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Contact Builder, Email Studio, and Mobile Studio.
- Build dynamic personalization and customer experiences using AMPscript, SSJS, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Develop reusable frameworks, templates, content blocks, and technical assets supporting scalable campaign execution.
- Configure and optimize customer journeys, triggered communications, and automated marketing processes.
Data Cloud & Customer Data Management
- Design and support Data Cloud data ingestion, harmonization, identity resolution, and audience activation processes.
- Work with Data Streams, Data Model Objects (DMOs), Data Graphs, Calculated Insights, and Unified Individual profiles.
- Enable customer segmentation and activation use cases across Marketing Cloud Advanced and other Salesforce platforms.
- Collaborate with business and analytics teams to translate customer data requirements into scalable Data Cloud solutions.
Data Architecture & Pipeline Ownership
- Design and manage Data Extensions, customer data models, contact architecture, and segmentation frameworks.
- Own data ingestion, transformation, quality assurance, and activation pipelines across Marketing Cloud and Data Cloud.
- Develop and optimize advanced SQL queries for audience creation, reporting, and customer data transformation.
- Ensure data governance, integrity, scalability, and performance across marketing technology solutions.
Integrations & Solution Engineering
- Design and implement integrations between Salesforce platforms and enterprise systems using REST APIs, SOAP APIs, SFTP, webhooks, and native connectors.
- Support real-time and batch data exchange across CRM, CDP, analytics, and enterprise applications.
- Troubleshoot integration issues, automation failures, and data synchronization challenges.
- Partner with architecture and engineering teams to define scalable Martech solution patterns.
Technical Leadership & Subject Matter Expertise
- Act as a subject matter expert for Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement and Data Cloud capabilities.
- Provide technical leadership during discovery, solution design, estimation, development, and deployment phases.
- Establish development standards, review code, and drive platform best practices.
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to team capability building.
- Stay current with Salesforce product innovations and recommend platform enhancements.
Mandatory Qualifications
Salesforce Marketing Cloud Expertise
- 6+ years of hands-on experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement & Advanced.
- Understanding and working experience on Flow builder, Data model objects, Asset handling & Tagging.
- Strong experience with Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Contact Builder, Email Studio, and Mobile Studio.
- Advanced proficiency in AMPscript, SSJS, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
Salesforce Data Cloud Experience
- Hands-on experience with Salesforce Data Cloud implementation and configuration.
- Experience working with Data Streams, Data Model Objects (DMOs), Identity Resolution, Calculated Insights, and Audience Activation.
- Understanding of customer profile unification, segmentation, and data activation use cases.
Data & SQL Skills
- Strong understanding of customer data architecture and relational data modeling.
- Advanced SQL expertise including joins, aggregations, data transformations, and query optimization.
- Experience handling large-scale customer datasets and marketing data pipelines.
Integration Experience
- Proven experience implementing REST and SOAP API integrations.
- Experience integrating Salesforce platforms with CRM, analytics, CDP, and enterprise applications.
- Understanding of authentication, security, and API governance best practices.
Technical & Leadership Skills
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capabilities.
- Ability to independently lead technical workstreams and complex initiatives.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Salesforce Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, or Loyalty Management.
- Experience with Salesforce AI tools and applications (Einstein & Agentforce).
- Experience with Enterprise CDPs and customer data management platforms.
- Familiarity with CI/CD and release management practices for Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

- Salesforce Data Cloud Consultant Certification.
