JOB PURPOSE
The General Trade Sales Associate Manager drives sales growth and profitability for Hong Kong Foods Retail's General Trade channel through effective customer and distributor management, sales planning and in-market execution. The role builds strong relationships with distributors, wholesalers and General Trade customers, identifies new business opportunities and expands distribution and market coverage, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver sales and profitability targets.
You'll join a supportive, hands-on team where curiosity, reliability and collaboration are valued, with opportunities to strengthen core capability in General Trade sales, customer relationship management, commercial negotiation and channel development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute sales plans for assigned General Trade customers and distributors in Hong Kong, taking ownership of sales, distribution and profitability targets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, wholesalers and General Trade customers through regular customer visits and business reviews, identifying opportunities to grow sales and strengthen long-term partnerships.
- Negotiate and manage customer agreements, trading terms, pricing and incentive programmes within agreed commercial guidelines, balancing business growth with profitability.
- Identify and develop new customers, outlets and sales opportunities to expand distribution, increase product availability and strengthen market coverage across Hong Kong's General Trade channel.
- Monitor sell-in, sell-out, stock levels and customer performance, and implement corrective actions to close sales gaps. Work with distributors and Trade Marketing to deliver new product launches, promotions and in-store visibility.
- Provide customer-level sales forecasts and partner with Supply Chain, Finance and Marketing to align demand, stock availability and promotional plans, supporting timely order fulfilment and effective management of trade investment.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in Business Administration, Marketing or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in FMCG sales, General Trade, distributor or channel management, with direct responsibility for customer relationships and sales target delivery.
- Sound understanding of Hong Kong's General Trade channel, with experience in customer and distributor management, commercial negotiation and new business development.
- Good organisation and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, follow through on details and collaborate across functions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Power BI or similar tools is a plus. Professional proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in the fast-moving consumer goods, food or retail sector.
- Experience creating dashboards or using data-visualisation tools.
- Exposure to forecasting, customer investment tracking or commercial project coordination.
