Metallurgical Technician - Sheet

The role of the Metallurgical Technician is to ensure the quality performance of processes which are important to product a high-quality product mix through Davenport’s skin sheet, aerospace, and automotive sheet lines. This position will collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to include; plant production management team, plant quality team, amongst others.

The Metallurgical Technician role has the following objectives:

Provide technical expertise to identify, solve and implement solutions to quality problems associated within a specific area of the plant/assignment.
Provide metallurgical practices and decisions on a day-to-day basis, evaluate and control product quality and provide technical guidance and training.
Participate in experimental studies which may include planning, conducting data collection, data analysis reporting of the results, and implementation of the conclusion reaches.
Oversee or perform calibration and maintenance of testing equipment.
Understand and use basic computer skills and programs.
Understand and use basic control charting skills and understanding of statistical data analysis language.
Provide technical expertise relating to problem solving, developing, and controlling quality issues. When situations arise, help to coordinate in design of developments of new technical processes/equipment
