Talent Acquisition Specialist

We’re looking for a mission-driven Talent Acquisition Specialist who will own hiring end to end. You’ll recruit for Engineering, Sales, Customer Success, Operations, Marketing and specialist roles as they come up. You’ll be the go-to person for how we find, assess and close great people, and you’ll have a direct hand in shaping the team that builds Canopy.
How this role works
This role starts as a 3-month independent contractor engagement, with the goal of converting to a full-time employee position. During the contract, you’ll work on live searches with our hiring managers, and we’ll both get a real sense of the fit. At the end of the three months, if it’s working for both sides, you’ll convert to a full-time employee. Employee benefits start at conversion.
What you’ll do
- Own the full recruiting lifecycle: work with hiring managers on what each role needs, write strong job descriptions, post roles, source, screen, coordinate interview loops, run offers and close candidates.
- Do all sourcing in-house. We don’t use external recruiting agencies, so you’ll build pipelines yourself through LinkedIn, referrals, communities, outbound and other active and passive channels.
- Partner with hiring managers on interview design, scorecards and calibration, so decisions are consistent and fast.
- Run our ATS and hiring operations, including pipeline hygiene, reporting, templates and offer workflows.
- Give every candidate a great experience and act as an ambassador for Canopy’s mission and culture.
- Strengthen our employer brand through job content, candidate communications and our presence on hiring channels.
- Track recruiting metrics such as time-to-fill, pipeline conversion and source effectiveness, and use them to improve how we hire.
- Recruit across the US and Canada.

About you
- 4+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, ideally in-house at a startup
- A track record of hiring both technical and go-to-market roles
- A strong sourcer who is comfortable filling roles without agency support
- Self-motivated and resourceful, and comfortable working with minimal oversight
- A clear, concise and confident communicator, both written and verbal
- Extraordinarily organized, with strong judgment on candidates and the ability to influence hiring managers
Bonus points
- Experience recruiting in insurance, insurtech, fintech or B2B SaaS
- Experience hiring in both the US and Canada
- Experience at a startup that scaled substantially during your tenure
Compensation
Contract rate: $40.70–$55.95/hour during the 3-month engagement. Full-time salary range at conversion: $76,032 - $93,070, plus benefits.
