Medical Receptionist | Local Doctors Avondale, West Auckland

Are you a people-focused, organised professional who enjoys making a difference in the patient experience? Local Doctors Avondale is looking for a friendly and proactive Medical Receptionist to join our team.
As one of the first points of contact for patients, you'll play an important role in creating a welcoming, supportive environment while helping our clinic run smoothly. You'll also have the opportunity to provide reception support at other clinics across our West Auckland cluster, offering variety and the chance to work alongside different teams.
About the Role
This is a varied, people-focused position where your communication, organisation and customer service skills will make a big difference. Working closely with our clinical and administration teams, you'll help ensure patients receive a positive experience from the moment they contact us through to their appointment and follow-up care.
What You'll Be Doing
- Welcoming patients and visitors with warmth and professionalism
- Managing appointments, bookings, cancellations and patient enquiries
- Registering patients and maintaining accurate patient records
- Answering phone calls and coordinating appointments
- Processing payments and supporting front desk operations
- Providing administrative support to clinicians and the wider team
- Providing reception cover at other clinics across the West Auckland cluster when required
- Contributing to an efficient, collaborative and patient-focused environment
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people, adapts well to changing priorities and takes pride in deliverin g excellent service.
You'll bring:
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- A warm, approachable and professional manner
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confidence using computer systems and learning new technologies
- The ability to multitask, prioritise and remain calm in a busy environment
- Flexibility to support other clinics across the West Auckland cluster when needed
- A positive, team-focused attitude and a genuine commitment to helping others
Previous experience in reception, administration or customer service is preferred. Experience in a medical practice or healthcare environment is an advantage, but not essential. We're looking for someone with the right attitude, a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in supporting patients and clinicians.
