Job Summary
Leads multiple teams to implement strategies for the architecture and delivery of interdependent, scalable distributed systems that meet organizational and customer demands. Orchestrates cross-group optimization for high‑throughput, large‑scale data processing; aligns stakeholders on scalability requirements; and oversees elastic designs and effective use of data plane platforms. Provides strategic oversight for fault‑tolerant, in‑service‑upgradable architectures, sets direction for partition‑aware design choices, and leads initiatives to harden networks via load‑shedding, throttling, and rate‑limiting.
Establishes expectations for formal verification and peer reviews and sets SLO‑aligned durability and availability standards across the department. Drives KPI and telemetry strategies; directs creation of complex dashboards and alerting for proactive health assurance; and ensures functional/correctness validation, data replication, and synchronization meet organizational needs. Guides organization‑wide incident management and operational readiness, eliminating customer maintenance windows and ensuring consistent SOPs.
Provides strategic security guidance (encryption, access controls), oversees remediation and compliance documentation, and sponsors automation (IaC) and change‑management alignment so systems can be safely patched, updated, and rolled back at scale.
About the Team & Organization
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is seeking an experienced Director, Core Infrastructure to lead engineering within the OCI Infrastructure Planning and Capacity Management organization.
The OCI Infrastructure Planning and Capacity Management team builds software solutions that improve how OCI manages infrastructure capacity, sources resources, and plans for future demand. Our work spans planning and forecasting services, infrastructure sourcing workflows, process automation, data integration, and operational reporting. We focus on improving decision quality, increasing operational visibility, and reducing manual effort across engineering, operations, supply chain, and finance.
In this role, you will lead engineering strategy, execution, and operational excellence for systems supporting infrastructure capacity management, sourcing, and demand planning. You will build and develop a high-performing engineering organization, establish technical priorities and engineering standards, and ensure delivery aligns with business objectives and operational needs.
You will oversee the development of new capabilities and improvements to existing systems, guiding architectural direction, organizational execution, and operational performance. Working closely with engineering, operations, finance, and business stakeholders, you will drive cross-functional alignment, resolve complex dependencies, and ensure the organization delivers reliable, scalable solutions that support OCI's infrastructure planning and capacity management needs.
