This is a customer-facing engineering role. Successful candidates must be comfortable engaging customers, presenting technical recommendations, building long-term relationships, and identifying service opportunities while delivering technical field support.

As a fresh graduate embarking on the Field Service Engineer role, you will have the opportunity to build a career at the intersection of engineering, customer engagement, and business development. Throughout the 12-month traineeship, you will gain hands-on experience supporting customers across the power and energy industry while developing technical expertise in installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and service delivery.

This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy working directly with customers, solving technical challenges on-site, and building long-term relationships. In addition to technical excellence, you will develop commercial awareness, learning how service solutions create value for customers and contribute to Hitachi Energy's service business growth.

You will participate in leadership and mentoring programs, technical and product training, and industry site exposure while developing the confidence to represent Hitachi Energy professionally in front of customers and stakeholders.

What You'll Make an Impact On

• Perform field service activities including installation, commissioning, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of power and energy equipment.
• Deliver exceptional customer experiences through professional on-site and remote support.
• Build trusted relationships with customers by understanding their operational challenges and identifying opportunities to improve asset reliability and performance.
• Act as a technical ambassador for Hitachi Energy, representing the company professionally during customer engagements.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical issues while minimizing equipment downtime.
• Support customers with technical recommendations, product upgrades, modernization opportunities, and lifecycle service solutions.
• Collaborate closely with Service Engineers, Project Managers, and Sales teams to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction.
• Demonstrate commercial awareness by recognizing service, upgrade, and maintenance opportunities that create value for customers and contribute to business growth.
• Assist in maintaining and expanding customer relationships to support long-term service partnerships.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
• Travel extensively (approximately 60-70%) to customer sites across Malaysia and, when required, internationally.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements while upholding Hitachi Energy's values of safety and integrity.

Your Background

• Recent graduate (within the last 2 years) in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.
• Strong interest in customer-facing engineering, field service, and working in dynamic site environments.
• Comfortable interacting with customers and stakeholders from different backgrounds and levels of seniority.
• Demonstrated leadership potential through internships, projects, extracurricular activities, or previous work experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and professionally.
• Commercial mindset with an interest in understanding customer needs, business drivers, and service-based solutions.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to learn both technical and business aspects of the role.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
• Willingness to travel extensively within Malaysia and internationally when required.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
