About the Schools

The USF School of Art and Art History features an internationally recognized, three-year interdisciplinary MFA program, along with degrees in Studio Art, Graphic Design, and Art History. About the Positions

The successful candidates will be hands-on makers and educators who enjoy helping students bring their ideas to life. Each will lead a teaching shop, train students in safe and skillful use of analog and digital tools, support a wide range of student projects, and teach a fabrication course. The art position will support sculptural and three-dimensional fabrication across many materials, including wood and metal. The architecture position will place greater emphasis on digital fabrication and model making. These positions require a strong commitment to safety, collaboration with faculty, and the ability to supervise and mentor student employees. Crossover work and shared resources between the two positions, schools and college is anticipated.

The University of South Florida College of Design, Art & Performance seeks two full-time Assistant Instructors to manage fabrication labs and teach fabrication courses. One position will be based in the School of Art and Art History (SAAH) and the other in the School of Architecture & Community Design (SACD). Both are 12-month appointments with identical rank and salary. Each position combines teaching a fabrication course, which may be offered in the summer and open to both art and architecture students, with the management of a teaching shop that supports students and faculty in woodworking, metal fabrication, and digital fabrication. This is a joint search. Candidates will be considered for both positions, and final placement in either SAAH or SACD will be determined through the interview process based on each candidate’s strengths and the needs of each school. Applicants are welcome to indicate a preference for one school or openness to either in their cover letter.
