We are looking for a Head of Mathematics to lead secondary mathematics at a British international school in Foshan. This position is available for the 2027/28 academic year, starting in August 2027.
About the School
This is a British international school in Foshan, teaching an English National Curriculum pathway with a Prep School for its younger students. Support is in place for English as an Additional Language and for students with additional learning needs. The school has an established leadership structure, with clear policies for performance management, safeguarding and pastoral care.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the secondary mathematics department, setting clear priorities for teaching, learning and student achievement
- Oversee curriculum planning and review, ensuring progression across secondary year groups
- Teach engaging mathematics lessons that develop students’ understanding, reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Lead and support mathematics teachers through collaborative planning, lesson observations, feedback and professional development
- Oversee departmental assessment and moderation, using student progress data to inform teaching and targeted support
- Ensure appropriate support and challenge for students with different learning needs, including those learning English as an additional language
- Coordinate mathematics enrichment activities that encourage curiosity and extend students’ learning
- Manage departmental resources and contribute to budgeting and development planning
- Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues about students’ progress and achievement
- Uphold the school’s safeguarding, pastoral care and behaviour policies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above, together with a recognised teaching qualification such as a PGCE or QTS
- Substantial teaching experience relevant to secondary mathematics, including previous leadership responsibility
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Familiarity with the English National Curriculum preferred
- Strong communication, organisational and team leadership skills
- Enthusiastic, responsible and able to work effectively in a multicultural setting

- Annual salary of RMB 400,000–650,000, negotiable and commensurate with experience and qualifications
