What You'll Be Doing
Our HDD Operators and Locators play an important role in the safe and efficient installation of underground natural gas pipelines.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Safely and effectively operate horizontal directional drilling equipment and other heavy equipment used in underground utility construction, as assigned.
- Perform locating duties to support accurate and safe drilling operations, as assigned.
- Assist with the installation of underground natural gas pipelines.
- Follow established safety procedures, utility construction standards, and project specifications.
- Read and interpret applicable standards, schematics, and construction plans.
- Work collaboratively with crew members to complete projects safely and efficiently.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support daily crew operations.
What We're Looking For
Primary Requirements:
- Willingness to work overtime based on project demands.
- Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret construction standards and schematics.
- Commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality workmanship.
Preferred Experience:
- Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) experience.
- Backhoe and/or mini excavator operation.
- Construction experience in natural gas, electric, or other utility distribution systems.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience operating excavation equipment in the utility industry.
- Class A CDL with tanker endorsement and appropriate qualifications to operate manual-transmission commercial vehicles
Physical Demands & Work Environment
These positions involve physically demanding work in active outdoor construction environments.
Employees must be able to:
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Stand and walk for extended periods, including on uneven ground surfaces.
- Perform physical activities such as bending, turning, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity.
- Work safely in environments with elevated noise levels, changing ground conditions, and nearby slow- or fast-moving traffic.
Compensation
- Union wage
- Additional $1.00/hour for qualifying CDL drivers, subject to applicable pay provisions.
- Opportunities for overtime based on project needs.
