Why Skillz?

The Future of Gaming Awaits!

The gaming industry is larger than movies, music, and books combined, with over 3 billion active gamers playing monthly and over 25 million active developers worldwide. Mobile gaming, in particular, is the fastest-growing segment, projected to reach $300 billion by 2025. At Skillz, you have the opportunity to be at the forefront of this exciting industry and shape its future.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Own game-level P&L, including the ~$5M annual developer-cost line, and review existing developer agreements against title-level performance for optimization or renegotiation opportunities.
  2. Own partnership & distribution deal economics — NPU from distribution, cost per NPU, D30/D360 ROAS.
  3. Stand up and run a deal-level IRR approval process for new partnership/distribution deals.
  4. Provide first finance coverage for the YayZ build, including early P&L/KPI reporting once a cadence exists.
  5. Track Arena content-sourcing retention & engagement economics with Cheyne Cole's team.
  6. Flag this seat's own support needs early, given no dedicated analyst is currently assigned.

Key Competencies

  1. Vendor/developer-contract review fluency — able to read existing agreements, benchmark terms, and structure a renegotiation or optimization case.
  2. Deal-economics fluency — comfortable modeling NPU, cost-per-NPU, and multi-horizon ROAS for partnership deals.
  3. Able to stand up a net-new approval process (deal IRR) rather than just operate an existing one.
  4. Comfortable operating solo across four distinct threads (game-level P&L/developer cost, Partnerships, Distribution, YayZ) without dedicated analyst support.
  5. Build-stage mindset — comfortable establishing a finance function from zero for YayZ.

Experience

  1. 4+ years in FP&A, corporate development, or partnerships/deal finance.
  2. Direct experience with deal economics, IRR/ROI modeling, or partnership P&L analysis.
  3. Experience reviewing or negotiating developer, licensing, or vendor agreements, ideally with a cost-optimization mandate.
  4. Comfortable operating with US-based stakeholders across time zones.
  5. Gaming, media, or platform-business experience preferred.
