- What is courier van insurance for?
- Van courier insurance provides cover for drivers who use a van to deliver parcels, packages and other third party goods. If you’re involved in an accident, it protects against damage to your van, along with other people and their property.
We offer reliable, all-in-one annual insurance for van courier drivers. All our policies include public liability insurance and you can choose between Third Party Only and Fully Comprehensive cover to suit you.
- Who is courier van insurance for?
- Our courier insurance is designed for people who earn money using their vans to deliver parcels, packages and other third party goods.
Whether you’re a full-time courier or delivering a few hours each week, our van insurance provides all the cover you need.
- Do I need courier van insurance?
- If you use your van to deliver goods for payment, standard car or van insurance won't cover you — you need hire and reward (H&R) cover. Driving delivery work without it is illegal and can mean fines, penalty points or your van being seized.
You need courier van insurance if…
You deliver parcels, packages or goods for payment
You do multi-drop, same-day or gig-economy delivery work
You drive for a courier platform or delivery company
You use your own van for any of this work
You may not need it if…
You only use your van for personal driving (SD&P)
You're not carrying goods for payment
You occasionally help friends move items for free
Still unsure? It's worth checking before you drive for work
What van courier delivery policies are available?
To use your van for courier or delivery work, you'll need to have both social, domestic and pleasure car insurance (SD&P) and hire and reward (H&R) insurance. Our Annual Combo courier delivery policies come with both, so you're fully covered.

- Levels of cover for courier van insurance
- Choose the level of protection that suits how you work — both cover you for courier delivery work and personal driving. If your van is essential to your income, Fully Comprehensive keeps you moving; to keep costs down, Third Party Only still includes public liability as standard.
- Fully Comprehensive
- Our highest level of protection. As well as covering your liability to others, it protects your own van — so you're back on the road quickly if something happens to it.
Everything in Third Party Only, plus:
Loss, damage or theft of your van and its parts
Windscreen repair and replacement
Audio, comms and navigation equipment (£500 limit)

- Our essential level of cover. It protects other people, their vehicles and property if an accident is your fault, with public liability included as standard.
Personal driving and courier delivery work
Damage to other vehicles or property (up to £5m)
Injury or death caused to other people
Public liability cover up to £5m

- Courier vs haulage insurance — which do you need?
- It's easy to mix these up, but they cover different kinds of work. Here's how to tell which one fits what you do.
Courier insurance
Lots of smaller drops over short to medium distances
Parcels, packages and multi-drop delivery work
Typical for self-employed couriers, parcel and gig-economy drivers
This is the cover most van delivery drivers need
Haulage insurance
Fewer, larger loads carried over longer distances
Often a single load moved point to point
Typical for HGV and long-distance freight work
Not usually what parcel or multi-drop couriers need
- Extra protection to keep you on the road
- We know that keeping you moving is really important. That’s why we offer extra protection to give you the cover you need.
No claims discount protection
Protect your no claims discount for extra money off at renewal, with up to one at-fault claim allowed.

- How to reduce the cost of your courier van insurance
