The Opportunity

As a Assistant Director - Backend Engineer, you will:

Lead the design and development of APIs, data access layers, and integrations.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical decision-making.
Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Frontend, and Data teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Drive best practices in coding, security, and observability across the team.

Qualifications

9+ years of professional experience in backend development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or mentoring capacity.
Expertise in building backend services and APIs using .NET/C# or Python.
Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MongoDB).
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and code reviews.
Working knowledge of Azure Cloud, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).
Familiarity with messaging and event streaming (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus).
Solid understanding of security fundamentals and observability practices.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
Fluency in English. Any additional language(s) are highly appreciated.

Preferred Skills

Experience with microservices, DDD, CQRS, and event-driven architectures.
Exposure to GraphQL, gRPC, API gateways.
Performance optimization and caching strategies (Redis).
Background in regulated environments or financial services.
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep).
Proven ability to lead distributed teams and drive technical excellence.

Quality & Reliability: Ensure high test coverage, implement CI/CD, and maintain observability.
