Work Schedule: 3 x 12 hour shifts, rotating weekends, 7am-7pm

Sign on Bonus: $15,000

Minimum Pay: $35 / hour

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments through observation, interviews, and physical examinations to gather patient history and vital signs, identifying physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans based on assessment data, setting specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals in collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
• Administer medications and treatments safely, including oral, intravenous, and intramuscular forms, and perform necessary medical procedures such as wound care, catheterization, and IV therapy, ensuring accurate and safe execution.
• Provide patient and family education about health conditions, treatments, and self-care practices, developing and delivering tailored educational materials and programs, and offering discharge instructions and follow-up care plans.
• Advocate for patient health and safety by acting as a liaison between patients and the healthcare system, protecting patient rights and confidentiality, and securing necessary resources to improve patient outcomes.
• Participate in performance improvement activities by engaging in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research initiatives, applying current healthcare research findings to expand clinical knowledge, and using quality measures to enhance performance and accountability for patient outcomes.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including doctors, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare providers, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care, maintaining open and clear communication with all team members.
• Collect and analyze patient health data from patients, families, and healthcare providers using appropriate techniques and instruments, and prioritize patient needs based on their immediate condition and overall health status to ensure timely and effective care.
• Document patient care activities accurately and timely in medical records, including assessments, care plans, interventions, and patient responses, to ensure continuity and quality of care.
• Evaluate and adjust care plans by monitoring and documenting the effectiveness of care plans and interventions, making necessary adjustments based on ongoing patient assessments and feedback.
• Perform nursing procedures such as wound care, catheterization, and specimen collection, ensuring accurate and safe implementation.
• Ensure patient safety by adhering to established policies and procedures, maintaining a safe environment, and participating in bedside shift reports to ensure continuity of care and effective communication among healthcare team members.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Administers all types of medications correctly per age group for all populations served according to policy
• Demonstrates proficient technical skills and operational knowledge of all equipment used on the unit, including equipment used to stabilize and monitor patients (i.e., IV insertion, central lines, pulse ox, NG tubes, Foley, chest tubes, hemodynamics monitoring, etc.)
• Proficient in the use of electronic medical records and automated dispensing medication systems for efficient medication administration and patient data retrieval
• Performs daily rotational task assignments as directed
• Supervises Nursing Assistants in the process of basic nursing functions, ensuring adherence to the patient’s cultural needs and demonstrating standard procedures for safe patient ambulation, transfers, and repositioning
• Serves as a preceptor as necessary, guiding and instructing less experienced staff in the nuances of patient care

Engages in effective communication and collaboration with the healthcare team, including gathering and reassessing patient data, initiating and implementing physician orders, and contributing to care plan development

• Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of emergency codes, infection control protocols, life safety, fire plans, and age-specific safety concerns, and supervises nursing assistant staff during these events
• Ensures the provision of necessary and appropriate education to patients and their families from admission through discharge, covering medical and nursing plans of care, medications, tests and procedures, disease processes, and discharge instructions. Documents education provided, including patient responses and outcomes
• Initiates referrals to healthcare providers as necessary
• Fluent in English with excellent reading, verbal, and written communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and the healthcare team

Education:

• Associate's of Nursing [Required]
• Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]

Work Experience:

• 1+ Acute care nursing experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) [Required]
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support Cert (PALS) [Preferred]
• Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) [Preferred]
