- What our people have to say
We’re the experts in the building, which I enjoy. HCA UK empowers me to be a fundamental part of how the department develops, grows and is shaped. They’re big on projects that lead by innovation. We’ve been the first in Europe to bring in new procedures, we’ve led in digital pathology and brought in new technologies and upgrades that enhance our cellular pathology. At HCA UK, I feel like I get to be way ahead of my peers.
Bruna
Service Lead
HCA UK’s labs are quite an intimate work setting. It’s great for me because I get to be exposed to the different departments like Chemistry, Immunology etc. HCA UK really set the tone for how training should be managed and overseen. I’d be a bit lost without the training structure. They’ve really guided me through my career and offered me the right opportunities at the right time. It’s a testament to how much HCA UK cares for our progress.
Inah
Biomedical Scientist
The proportion of people HCA UK have put through training compared to the size of our workforce is just huge. It’s more than some of the trusts that are maybe four or five times our size. I just couldn’t resist the opportunity to build a training programme at HCA UK. It’s been great hearing how much it’s helped people and I’m so happy to have been part of it.

Together we make lives better
With a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement, our labs process millions of tests every year across a wide range of disciplines, including:

As well as routine analyses, we’re able to meet bespoke requirements. For unusual or uncommon tests, we’re supported by an external network of specialist laboratories. We also offer molecular genetics testing and advice provided by the unique Genomics Review Board. This helps us give patients with cancer the most appropriate individual care.
Learn from the best
We’re proud to be an IBMS-approved training laboratory, supporting pre- and post- registration training for Biomedical Scientists. And our training isn’t just accredited, it’s award-winning. In 2024 we received awards from the IBMS for ‘Training & Development’ as well as the ‘Overall Biomedical Science Champion’ Award.
Alongside this, our One HCA UK Academy offers a whole range of developm
